Lonesome Hero | Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen on Saturday at the Wang Theater in Boston
Even from up in the mezzanine we could feel the warmth of Leonard Cohen's voice and see the spring in his step as he skipped around the stage and came down on his knees to offer serenades to his fellow musicians. He is a person who is more accustomed to being in a younger man's body and the whole performance was designed to highlight his fight against aging. But in my opinion at 74 he is more sexy than the younger playboy Cohen, his history is rich, he was ordained a Buddhist Monk, and his voice has only improved in the 15 years he spent out of the public spotlight.
Leonard Cohen opened the first set (of a three hour show) with Dance Me to the End of Love. It was a perfectly ironic choice when considering the disturbing anti-Israeli protesters we had to cross to gain entrance to the theater. They were a cruel contrast with the beauty we found inside.
